5" by 7" daily pastel painting on board
The colors are a bit more brilliant than this scan.
Please email me if you are interested in purchasing this painting.
Playing with my pastels and other mediums for the past few days to loosen up and return to a painting schedule.
It's been quite some time since I've posted and I apologize to those of you who keep an eye on my work.
I've been quite busy for the past few months taking care of my parents. As some of you know my mother has Alzheimer's Disease. In January both my parents were hospitalized, at different times, as a result of falling. While my father was in rehab I lived with and cared for my mother 24/7. She needs to be watched with vigilance because of her illness and high risk for falls.

After much discussion, touring facilities and too many tears, we decided as a family to place her in a nursing home. The process was daunting at times but we placed her in March and recently received medicaid approval. She is happier than she was at home. My father and I visit daily and I still help with his needs, but it's minimal.
I've never been much of a planner but I'm seeing the need to schedule my time. Always something else to learn!
I hope to be posting more so please stop by again.
I'm allowing myself two months to increase my work production. For quite some time I have felt that I am falsely representing myself as a daily painter. Life just keeps getting in the way regardless of my intentions. If after the two months I still haven't reached my daily painting goal I will need to reaccess my direction, or become a recluse.

Just beautiful, Ria. I know the Providence area well as I grew up in New Bedford, MA. I bet you could get a lot of ideas over in Newport, RI too. I remember this wonderful kite festival along the ocean one spring.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sky! Well done, Ria. I've wondered where you've been and I see it hasn't been an easy few months for you. I hope that both you and your dad have found some small spot of peace with your decision and that your dad becomes a bit stronger each day. I also hope that the nursing home staff have a special place in their hearts for your mom.
ReplyDeleteHow I missed this gorgeous sky I'll never know. But it's fabulous Ria! I'm so very glad you've once again picked up your pastels. I'll be visiting often..as you have grown to be another of my all-time-favorite artists.
ReplyDeleteP.S. If in two months you do find yourself having to reassess, just remember all things (and situations) in this life, are temporal. This too shall pass..
Blessings, Joy & Wednesday Sunshine, Terri Smith
