Virtual Paintout's art challenge this month is to paint a scene from google maps in the Canary Islands.

This little piece changed so much from the original image that I picked but I still might submit it to the challenge.
I've been warming up to my pastels again. I'm still not sure how much time I can commit to in a day so I'm painting within a limited time for now. It's a good exercise.

When I needed to stay with my mother there were days when I just didn't know what to do with myself. On one of those days I took pictures of her many objects. She has a bowl filled with some really beautiful shells and this is one of them.

Playing with my pastels and other mediums for the past few days to loosen up and return to a painting schedule.

It's been quite some time since I've posted and I apologize to those of you who keep an eye on my work.
I've been quite busy for the past few months taking care of my parents. As some of you know my mother has Alzheimer's Disease. In January both my parents were hospitalized, at different times, as a result of falling. While my father was in rehab I lived with and cared for my mother 24/7. She needs to be watched with vigilance because of her illness and high risk for falls.
After much discussion, touring facilities and too many tears, we decided as a family to place her in a nursing home. The process was daunting at times but we placed her in March and recently received medicaid approval. She is happier than she was at home. My father and I visit daily and I still help with his needs, but it's minimal.
I've never been much of a planner but I'm seeing the need to schedule my time. Always something else to learn!

I hope to be posting more so please stop by again.
I'm allowing myself two months to increase my work production. For quite some time I have felt that I am falsely representing myself as a daily painter. Life just keeps getting in the way regardless of my intentions. If after the two months I still haven't reached my daily painting goal I will need to reaccess my direction, or become a recluse.
