Between the holidays, family stuff happenings and working on larger pieces, I've had little time for my daily paintings. I'm in awe of the daily painters who find the time to finish a painting every day and juggle the rest of their lives.
My new years resolution is to become more proficient at juggling!

Poinsettia

While visiting my mother in the nursing home I saw poinsettia's at almost every turn. It reminded me that I wanted to paint one. I took a photo with my cell phone which doesn't take the best shots but it was enough to work with for this painting.

Another reference photo was found on my hard drive. This is a painting of my daughter Melissa enjoying the snow when we lived on Long Island, NY., sometime in the 1980's.

I think her coat was a bit large for her or it may have been frozen stiff  ;-)

One of the art challenge groups I participate in is having a winter theme. Maximum painting time on this was an hour.
I looked through my files and found this little guy in a photo taken about 28 years ago when the "kids" were just toddlers. Anyone remember him?

This months response to the Virtual Paintout art challenge. What a beautiful country! I spent about an hour "driving" around on Google maps to find this spot but each view I passed was gorgeous.
